There are many reasons why you should be considering running the Bucktown 5k in September. I figured I will give you a few of my favorite reasons.

1. 100 Club of Chicago

The Bucktown 5k happily supports the 100 Club of Chicago. You might ask what is the 100 Club? The 100 Club of Chicago provides for surviving spouses and dependents of law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics who lose their lives in the line of duty. It extends to all federal, state, county and local officers, firefighters and paramedics stationed in Cook and Lake county. These individuals put their lives on the line every day for the citizens of Chicago, their love ones should be most definitely be taken care of when their loved one is lost in the line of duty. Your registration fee will help.

2. Swagged Out

Picture speaks louder than words! What other 5k around gives participants such a sweet long-sleeved tech tee? Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

3. Run For Free

Go the extra mile and help do some fundraising for families in need. Raise at least $250, and our race entry is FREE!! Overachiever? Raise $500 and earn a $50 giftcard to Fleet Feet, anything over $1000 gets you the free entry AND the giftcard.

4. It’s the 20th Anniversary

Anniversary years are always a good time to run a race, but there is always something special about those “0” years. This year will mark the Bucktown 5k’s 20th anniversary. To celebrate, every participant will get a free poster and be treated to some Chicago donuts and iced coffee. I love free donuts!

There you have it, just a few things to help you get excited about participating in the Bucktown 5k. Ready to register? Use my code BRBucktown to score yourself a free pair of sunglasses.(code expires 2 days before raceday). What are you waiting for, sign up!
