Well, I must be a glutton for punishment because for the 2nd year in a row I have decided to take on the Hospital Hill Half Marathon in Kansas City, Missouri. Last year this race was a time of firsts; first time visiting Kansas City, first time racing in Missouri and first time having a race give you pajama bottoms instead of t-shirts and pancakes as post-race food. Outside of that, the course itself was VERY challenging and hilly but it had pretty good crowd support. My home state of NC is hilly but I believe Kansas City has North Carolina beat as far as hills, or at least as it comes to steep hills.
Outside of race activities, Kansas City, holds a lot of history. I was able to visit the African American Jazz museum, as well as, the Negro league baseball museum while I was there. I have friends there so, we all were even able to take in a Kansas City Royals game. Fun times, and I can wait to go back and tackle the “HILL” in June 2018. Stay tuned for discount codes for the race, in case you want to join me.

The race bibs were fun and so were the medals. But yeah, Charlotte has nothing on those hills in KC. Lol

Oh damn. That’s a terrible nickname. Haha I don’t know if I should because of your blog title. I don’t enjoy punishment…or maybe I do. I mean only a crazy person would run a marathon…twice. Lol

Come on. You ate deep dish and ran a marathon, you can handle a few hills. And it’s only a half marathon. 🙂

I saw this race when I was looking for one to do for my race in Kansas. I said no way when I saw how hilly it was. I ran one in Olathe instead (basically a suburb of Kansas City). Kansas City was tons of fun, though, and the food was fantastic!
